Making a DandeLION Catcher - With Free SVG

My grandson brings me handfuls of dandelions every chance he gets.  So I thought we'd try something different with them.  It's not my idea, my daughter saw a similar printable online somewhere and sent me a photo - I merely created a version that could be cut with cricut.

Cricut Kids Craft - Making A Bird With Moving Wings

Pull The Birds Feet & His Wings Move
(Assembled by my 3 year old grandson)

On the drive from my grandsons house to the farm, he announced "We need to make a bird craft today Grandma.".  Well, that certainly sounds do-able.  So we tried a couple of options.  The first one I tried, I got the sizes all wrong, and it wasn't nearly as much fun to make as I had envisioned.  The second one, which I almost didn't even attempt to create, was a huge hit.

Handprint Eagle Craft with Free SVG

A child's handprints make the feathers for this eagle craft - perfect for the 4th of July crafting.  :-)

There will be two different svgs in this bundle - the "Uncle Sam Hat" is for a separate craft, I'll add the tutorial for that one soon!

For this one, you want the Eagle SVG.
Upload the svg, resize the group to 12.887 wide by 8.77 tall.

Then change the colors of each item.  Either ungroup them, or just select one item at a time from the layers menu on the right.

Fold a piece of white copy paper in half, trace your childs handprint.  Cut, giving you two handprints.  We liked copy paper for this rather than cardstock - it made the "feathers" lighter, and is easier to cut.

We used a glue stick to assemble everything except the googly eye - we always use hot glue to attach our googly eyes.  And we hot glued a magnet on the back...  I buy packs of magnets at the Dollar Tree, and we attach them to the back of most of my grandsons crafts.

Pop Up Puppy Card - From PDF to SVG

Making A Children's Birthday Card -
Using a pdf file converted to svg, and made with the help of my 3 year old assistant.  :-)

Handprint Trophy Card - A Cricut Kids Craft

#1 Best Dad Trophy Card
Made by my 3 year old grandson, with a little help from Grandma & Cricut.  :-)
He always loves a craft where we can paint his hands or feet!

Handprint Butterfly - A Cricut Kids Craft with Free svg

A quick handprint craft with my grandsons this week - using cricut to cut out the body, which the 3 year old happily glued together.  The svg has cut out eyes - but if you have been following me for any length of time, you know that said 3 year old always insists on adding googly eyes.  :-)

Owl Paper Bag - A Kids Craft With Cricut (Free svg)

My nearly 3 year old grandson loves to craft with Grandma, and paper bag puppets are currently one of his favorite things to make.  I haven't been able to find many free svgs for them, so I have been creating some of my own.

A Spider On A Stick - Kids Craft With Cricut

My grandson is currently obsessed with spiders.  The Itsy Bitsy Spider, in particular - we've watched that episode of Sesame Street more times than I can count.  We've already made the spider on a web craft, where he can make the spider go up and down on a string.  And we made a pipe cleaner spider.  Today we put a spider on a stick, which he can then make "walk" by moving the stick.

Download the SVG here

Once the svg is uploaded into design space, select all and resize the group to 10.5 wide.

Cut the second head circle in whatever color you want to show through the eyes and mouth.  Red, Green, and White all work well.

We then added googly eyes on top of the cut out eyes.  Because...  the 2 year old assistant believes EVERY project needs googly eyes.  :-)

Assembly is simple - just glue the legs across criss cross.  I let the 2 year old do that with very little assistance.  Then I used hot glue to add a wooden skewer.  Regular glue would work - but I like hot glue.  Add a circle over the top to cover all of that.

Then just bend the legs  - two bends, one closer to the body, and one to make "feet".
The legs bounce up a bit when you move the stick to "walk" the spider.  This was surprisingly entertaining.  :-)

Using Weld & Slice To Make SVGS Better For Paper Cutting

I am using a paper bag puppet svg, free from Easy Paper Crafts for the example, but these are the concepts that will work for almost any svg.  This, for me, began when my grandson asked if we could make a dog craft today.  Of course!  I knew he'd love these puppets I saw awhile back.
