I made my DS Project Public Here, if you use Cricut Design Space, you can use my project to start
In the Design Space Project above, the circle on the band is united, not welded. Unite does the same thing as weld, but if you need to undo it to resize, that is possible.
============
The Pieces And Sizes
==========
These are the pieces used in the project:
- 2 brown rectangles 1.5x 8
- 2 yellow rectangles 1.5 x 8
- 2 red rectangles 1.5 x 8
- 2 orange rectangles 1.5 x 8
- 1 red half a heart (slice a heart shape)
- 1 orange diamond
- 1 brown rectangle with a circle welded in the middle
- 2 brown rectangles, to extend the band to whatever length you need. (We only needed one of these)
We used googly eyes, because my assistant is obsessed with googly eyes.
You could add circles to make eyes, if you prefer.
Others have used balloons in place of the half heart - but I don't completely trust that same not quite 3 year old assistant with balloons, so we went with paper.
Note - Cricut is currently, 11/2022, having issues with the shape function in Design Space. I set the rectangles to 1.5 wide, but they are appearing as 1.33 wide now. That's ok and won't make much difference, but that is why there is a discrepancy. Also note, if you turn one of the rectangles sideways, it will cut on it's own mat - again, that's part of the shapes issue in the current problems with DS 11/22.
============
Assembly
============
This is pretty self explanatory. We used hot glue to apply the face.
Then we stapled one of the band extenders on to the end, wrapped the band around his head, decided where we wanted it to sit, and stapled the other end of the extender to the band.
Once the band was sized and attached, we folded each of the rectangle "feathers" in half, and stapled them to the back of the band. This was my assistants first time using a stapler (he's a pro with a hot glue gun) and he was enamored. I see much more stapling in our future. :-)
