Lazy Vinyl Weeding

This is not a tip - but rather an admission. As in, this is probably a bad idea, but I do it anyway, because I am impatient. :-)

When a design has a solid outline with a lot of little pieces to weed out, and I am using regular or permanent vinyl (NOT htv), I will sometimes pull up the solid piece - the part of the design I will actually use, then use my scraper to quickly remove all the little pieces, then carefully place the solid piece back down. You can usually see the outline on the backing of where exactly the vinyl should go - but sometimes it can be tricky to not stretch it a bit, or get wrinkles. That's why it's not really a great idea. But like I said, I am impatient, and it frequently works out ok for me. :-)

Here you can see small bubbles in a few places. I'm confident I can work those out easily enough when I transfer the design - but again, this is why this is not the way you should do this.

The SVG is free from:
This is different than reverse weeding.  Reverse weeding works really well when you are trying to keep all the small details - small lettering, etc.  You apply the entire design to the transfer paper, then remove then weed.  See more about that here:

I transferred this to a re-usable drink pouch , it transferred great, I had no problems removing the "bubbles" above.

Testing The Free 3D Paper Daisy Flower Files Available From A Variety Of Sites

In the photo above, from left to right: Dreamy Posy svg, Lia Griffith svg, Jennifer Maker svg

Misc:

A few early  construction notes:
- The paper from Hobby Lobby is Hollow Core  - giving my cuts a white edge.  I may like this for some things.  I do not like it for others.
- I should really read instructions.  Eventually I probably will - at least for the flowers that don't look right.  For now, I'm just cutting them and putting them together using basic logic.  Sometimes that works great, other times...  I still don't know why I have a black square of cardstock with the Jennifer Maker file, and apparently I was supposed to change the color from black to yellow on the long strip.  Ooops.

This is one of my favorite sites for paper flowers. There are 19 freebies here - you add them to the card and "check out", no credit card information required.

Free SVG From Lia Griffith
Enter your email address and the download will begin automatically, and immediately

This site is so full of ads that it loads very slowly for me (the joys of rural internet)
The sign up for her free archives is near the top of the post. Once you sign up, you will receive an email with the password.  The password is in tiny print at the bottom of some of her emails, but the majority of the emails will be for her premium svg membership.
The paper flowers in her freebie vault can be found here:

This is yet another freebie vault. Go to this page:
Go all the way to the bottom on the right to sign up.
Confirm you are not a robot. Wait for the email.
It went right to my spam folder.  Search "Jennifer Carroll" to find it.
Then go here to enter the password and download the files:

Jennifer Maker has a free version that is rolled, instead of stacked.

This is another freebie vault site, with a lot of free resources.
The flower section of her freebie vault can be found here:
Then hold down the control and the f key on your computer and a search box will pop up - type daisy, and it till take you right to this file.

I downloaded this one from Kin+Tonic, but the link now gives a 404 error
A closer look at the site says they are rebranding as Petal And Finch and says "See Ya Soon"
I can only find an instagram, not a new webpage, for Petal and Finch - I'll check back later.

Decorating Drink Pouches

Wine Slushies in Reusable Drink Pouches, Decorated with Cricut

On my desk today... It's going to be 90 degrees every day this week, so I thought this might be a good week to learn how to make wine slushies. Of course, I'm also decorating the drink pouches. The svgs here are from the same bundle I shared a few days ago, I used one of the svgs on the garden flag. It's not free - but it's only $2.50 for the bundle of 40 svgs, commercial use license included.

Reminder - as an affiliate for sites like Amazon and Creative Fabrica, if you click on one of the links here and then make a purchase, I may earn a small commission. This in NO WAY changes the price you are charged - it's the same price for you either way. :-)

Four Easy Ways To Make Wine Slushies - With Recipes

Wine slushies made three ways:
On the far right is a tart red wine slushy made with a local red wine and simple syrup, blended, and froze frozen.  In the middle is a peach wine, mixed with frozen peaches and a cup of rum, blended, and froze.  (I'd knock the rum down to half a cup next time, this one is a bit strong... ) and on the far right is red cat wine, poured into a flat container and sat in the freezer overnight.  This morning I pulled a fork through it to "stir" it into a slush.
