2023 In Review - Cricut Crafts

There's a section in the back of my Christmas Planner that has collages, like the one above, of our Christmas decorations from past years.  Each year has its own page.  I didn't make a page every year, but I did it somewhat regularly - and this is my favorite section of my planner.  It also has copies of every Christmas card, from the years when we sent photo cards, and it includes letters from, pre-facebook,  when we sent a Christmas letter. Even after we stopped sending a Christmas letter with our cards, I would send one just to my Grandmother.   All of that to say, my planners are often as much scrapbooks as they are organizing tools.  So at the years end, I like to add photo collages to the sections - reminders that I really did get something done, even though may days it didn't feel like it.

I seriously didn't think I had crafted much in 2023 - It's very easy for me to focus on what I did not get done, and not recognize what I DID accomplish.  Once I started pulling up photos of all the things my grandson and I made this year...  well, I did a lot more than I realized.  :-)

Here's A Look At Some Of The Projects I Completed In 2023

Making Perforated Tickets With Cricut

Making Perforated Tickets With Cricut

My husband needed 70 tickets for a banquet the Masons are hosting.

There are two dinner options, and they need to know how many of each dinner is needed..  so the ideal ticket has the information on one side, to be kept by the purchaser, and a tear of section for the name and meal choice.

For just 70 tickets, this was easy to do with cricut.  For larger numbers..  I think I'd have called our local printer and placed an order.   Doing it myself was MUCH much cheaper.  :-)  Here's how I did it:

No SVG for this one - But I linked to the public Design Space Project [FREE] and I gave the measurements if you want to just make your own from scratch.  It's just basic shapes.

How To Watch The Christmas Classics In 2023

Where To Watch The Christmas Classics

In 2023, I found the Classic Christmas TV shows - including Frosty [and the other Bass & Rankin animated specials] , Garfields Christmas, Smurfs Christmas, even Charlie Brown's Christmas, all on the ReDiscover Channel.  Unfortunately, it's a very awkward app on the Firestick - but it appears to be commercial free.

Here's how I got it to work for us:

Creative Jewelry Storage

For someone who never wears a wedding band [I lost them after taking them off and putting them "somewhere safe"  ] and rarely remembers to put in earrings, I sure do own a lot of jewelry.  A lot of it is costume jewelry I have inherited.  And, I rarely leave a thrift store without a new brooch...

Storage is an issue, not because it wouldn't all easily fit in the wooden stand up jewelry box shown here, but because if I put it all in there, I wouldn't be able to see it.  And I like to SEE it, even if I rarely wear it.    So I've gotten creative over the years.  Photo frames, curl holders, a cone wrapped in blue velvet ribbon that I'm certain was originally a Christmas tree, and an ornament display rack.  Here's a closer look at each:
