How To Watch The Christmas Classics In 2023

Where To Watch The Christmas Classics

In 2023, I found the Classic Christmas TV shows - including Frosty [and the other Bass & Rankin animated specials] , Garfields Christmas, Smurfs Christmas, even Charlie Brown's Christmas, all on the ReDiscover Channel.  Unfortunately, it's a very awkward app on the Firestick - but it appears to be commercial free.

Here's how I got it to work for us:

Find the channel website here:
https://www.rediscovertv.com/home

To download the ReDiscover App on Firestick, go to your appstore in the menu, and for me, it was the SECOND option. Click on the first ReDiscover app, and it says the app is unavailable, but clicking on the second one downloaded it to our firestick.

And then, once installed, it initially looks as if there is no way to search the app.  There is - you just have to click at the top -

If you look close at that red bar across the top, there's a drop down arrow, just past the Re
When you click on that (it's red here because I have it selected), a menu drops down.  Still no search is visible..  but it's there, I promise -

To get the white search bar, I had to scroll up.
Then click in the white space and a screen will pop up for you to select letters.

When you close the app and come back, it will not then show you what you watched last - you are going to need that search bar.

It does remember however, where you left off in a show - so if you stop watching and come back, once you find the show through the search option, you can resume where you left off watching.

Are there other options?  Yes.  Not many, and I think most are limited time frames.  Before I look at what is available on other channels, here's a quick look at some of the "classics"

In 1960, Arthur Rankin Jr and Jules Bass founded a production company, and then they produced [at least] 18 Christmas movies that remain classics today.  Their 1964 Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer is the longest running special on television.

You can purchase a dvd of the 18 Animated Christmas Specials by Bass and Rankin..  but we don't even have a dvd player hooked up to our tv anymore.  :-(

The Little Drummer Boy (1968)
