How to, and Why To, Use Offset In Design Space
When using a computer, the Offset button is in the middle of the top toolbar.
To use it for text, just type your text, then choose offset, and it will add the offset layer (here shown in blue)
If the letters are close together, or touch, the offset will be one solid image.
If you increase the space between the letters and add an offset, you will get separate images for each offset.

In many paper cutting projects, you can add text, then add an offset to the text. Weld the offset to your shape, then place your paper cut text on top.
Here's an example.. add text, add an offset to the text, then weld the offset to a shape.
Here is another example, on an already existing project:

Offset can also be used to slice out a space for text:
Here's a Knock Out Name Tile Project where that option can be useful:

Use Offset For A Background For A Sticker/Print Then Cut Shape
You can select an entire image, group it together for ease, then add an offset to that group.
Occasionally it will leave holes, such as those seen above the bee here.
First I changed the offset to white, then I used contour to remove those extra holes.
To print then cut this as a sticker, select all and flatten, so that the design is flattened on the shape.
