A travel "lego" (these are the generic building blocks from the Dollar Tree) carrying case.
Step By Step How To, And Links To The Free Fonts & SVG
Supplies:
- 1 lock top container from the Dollar Tree (kitchen plastics aisle)
- 1 Make-It Blocks Base Plate (toy aisle)
- 1 1/2 bags of Make It Blocks (Toy Aisle)
- Lego Thick font (Close to the actual Lego Font)
- Lego Block Font (Blocks With Letters In Them)
- Box Lid is 5x5
- 651 vinyl
- Dollar Tree Contact paper as transfer tape.
The base plates are just a tad bit too large - you will want to sand the corners a bit, to round them and get them to fit snugly into the lids. The gray one here is sanded too much! I made it too small and it no longer snapped snugly into place. It does not take much sanding at all!
I placed a piece of fine grit sandpaper on top of a block of wood (a solid surface) and ran the base over the sandpaper to sand the sharp corner into a rounded corner.
The Design:
Remember that with FontLab Pad, you do not have to install fonts like this, that you will seldom use!
Just choose file/open, and browse to the zip file
type a small letter t to get this lego man. It will save as an svg!
Upload the Legoman svg, click on him, and in the bottom right choose "contour"
Now you can remove the T, and the beard, or any other parts you might not want to cut.
I uploaded Leonardo as an svg from FontLab Pad as well, so I did not need to install this font.
Once uploaded, click on it and choose "attach" - that way the letters will stay in order when you click make it.
I cut it from 651 vinyl, and transferred it using Dollar Tree Contact Paper.
