A Super Simple Draw Then Cut Tutorial - Planner Tabs

A Super Simple Beginners Tutorial
For Using the Draw Feature [Pens] In Cricut
How To Make A Page Divider Tab

Quick Links:

Upload The SVG:
Download it from free from here: http://dan99.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
I chose "Tab 2" for this project, because it went with the circle theme on the cover of my book.

Here's a quick tip reminder, in case you need to remember how to download an svg then upload it to Design Space:

To use free svgs in design space, you will download the file, then most of the time you will have to unzip it (if the file was zipped)  Locate the svg - it will be the file that looks like a website, freqently displaying the icon of your default browser.

Size  The Tab:
My tab was going on a 12x12 album, I made the size 2 wide by 3.95 tall, and I think that was perfect. Size will depend on the size of your project, and how many tabs you are adding.

Add Text

Choose a font that will write.
The Cricut machine, when writing, will follow the same path it would if it was cutting.  So most text will appear "hollow", or as a "bubble"  You can avoid this by using a writing font in Cricut Design Space (Most cost around $5) OR, by choosing a free font thin enough that the lines "collapse on themselves"  I have hundreds of samples of FREE fonts that work as writing fonts, here: https://fieldsofhether.blogspot.com/2017/11/6-single-line-fonts-that-will-write.html

For this font, I used Always Here.  It's one of my favorites, and it is free on Dafont.

Click on your text, and change the line type to "draw"

Under Operation, choose DRAW, then choose PEN

Attach

Select all, and attach.  Attach is what keeps your text in the correct place on your shape.

Now the text will write on the tab, when you click make it.

Here I am using the markers from the Target Dollar Spot.  They work great in the cricut, no adapter needed!  See more markers that work in cricut:

Fold, and glue right fast to the page protector. I  used an Elmers tape runner for the glue here.
