How To Make Paper Dahlias [And Free svgs too]

How To Make Large Paper Dahlias
And Where To Find Free SVGS

Paper Dahlias are made with one circle, for the base, and a bunch of squares.  So you don't actually need an svg, your shapes tool will work fine..  but there are some free svgs in here too.  :-)

HGTV recommends using a cardboard cake circle for the base, and 60 4-inch squares  There's a video tutorial on their site -   https://www.hgtv.com/design/make-and-celebrate/handmade/easy-diy-craft-paper-dahlias

Jennifer Maker has several varieties, all with free svgs

This one is a little different - and it includes free svgs for both flowers

Giant Dahlia Wall Flowers Design #24
"Start with cutting out 40—4.5 inch squares and 15—4 inch squares. It’s important to note that the final count of squares used will vary for everyone, but the above count is a good starting place." You'll also need an 8 inch circle.

For this version, she cut rectangles instead of squares
4.25″ x 5.5″ - basically a 8.5×11 cut into fourths
No svg - she used a paper trimmer to cut the pieces quickly.

This version uses a plastic plate as the base - and paint on the edges

======================
DAHLIAS, by EDGAR LEE MASTERS

The mad wind is the warden,
And the smiling dahlias nod
To the dahlias across the garden,
And the wastes of the golden rod.

They never pray for pardon,
Nor ask his way nor forego,
Nor close their hearts nor harden
Nor stay his hand, nor bestow

Their hearts filched out of their bosoms,
Nor plan for dahlias to be.
For the wind blows over the garden
And sets the dahlias free.

They drift to the song of the warden,
Heedless they give him heed.
And he walks and blows through the garden
Blossom and leaf and seed.
