Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

"This must be a plane of Dominicans returning home; when you touch down on this soil, you must clap when you land. Para dar gracias a dios. Regrezamos."

"In November 2001, flight AA587 crashed to the ground on its way to Santo Domingo, killing 265 people on a flight where 90% of the passengers were Dominican or of Dominican descent. Noting that it was not another terrorist attack, the media largely ignored it, but it was a terrible blow to the New York Dominican community.

Clap When You Land is the story of two girls - Camino and Yahaira - one in the Dominican Republic and one in New York City. They have never met, never spoken, never known about each other's existence, but when their father is killed in a plane crash on his way to visit Camino, they find each other in the midst of their grief."

We're All Adults Here by Emma Straub
"A totally engaging and smart book about the absolutely marvelous messiness of what makes up family." —Elizabeth Strout
When Astrid Strick witnesses a school bus accident in the center of town, it jostles loose a repressed memory from her young parenting days decades earlier. Suddenly, Astrid realizes she was not quite the parent she thought she'd been to her three, now-grown children. But to what consequence?  In All Adults Here, Emma Straub's unique alchemy of wisdom, humor, and insight come together in a deeply satisfying story about adult siblings, aging parents, high school boyfriends, middle school mean girls, the lifelong effects of birth order, and all the other things that follow us into adulthood, whether we like them to or not.

Big Summer By Jennifer Weiner
Mrs. Everything returns with an unforgettable novel about friendship and forgiveness set during a disastrous wedding on picturesque Cape Cod.

Catherine House is a school of higher learning like no other. Hidden deep in the woods of rural Pennsylvania, this crucible of reformist liberal arts study with its experimental curriculum, wildly selective admissions policy, and formidable endowment, has produced some of the world’s best minds: prize-winning authors, artists, inventors, Supreme Court justices, presidents. For those lucky few selected, tuition, room, and board are free. But acceptance comes with a price. Students are required to give the House three years—summers included—completely removed from the outside world. Family, friends, television, music, even their clothing must be left behind. In return, the school promises a future of sublime power and prestige, and that its graduates can become anything or anyone they desire.

The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner
One hundred and fifty years ago, Chawton was the final home of Jane Austen, one of England's finest novelists. Now it's home to a few distant relatives and their diminishing estate. With the last bit of Austen's legacy threatened, a group of disparate individuals come together to preserve both Jane Austen's home and her legacy. These people—a laborer, a young widow, the local doctor, and a movie star, among others—could not be more different and yet they are united in their love for the works and words of Austen. As each of them endures their own quiet struggle with loss and trauma, some from the recent war, others from more distant tragedies, they rally together to create the Jane Austen Society.

With Free SVGS

A Daily Dose Of DIY will walk you through step by step to make this.
She used the free Gerber Daisy pattern from Jennifer Maker, so you'll have to sign up for the Jennifer Maker site to be able to access the free resources there.  (Isn't that a great flower??  I love it!)

A Daily Dose Of DIY includes the free monogram svg on her own site, but you'll also have to sign up there to access that free resource library as well.

Another step by step with free svg -
I love how large she made the flowers for this! And the pins used to make the centers are such a great touch!

But wouldn't this be a great project to use with some of Grandma's button collection?
Not the exact svg above, but here are some "Moms Are Like Buttons" svgs:
https://cutthatdesign.com/free-svg/free-svg-cutting-files-moms-like-buttons-hold-everything-together/

Not the same svg, but a similar version - free

This one appears to have been made with a circle flower punch and pop dots.  You can cut the flowers using the free svg here - cut them in two different sizes, then cut a small circle for the center.

This is a project from Michaels..  but imagine it with a photo of a mother and a daughter, and made with paper flowers...

Try the Bromello or Brannboll fonts for a similar look

The exact font used here is from Stacy's Digital Designs.  It can be found on So Fontsy.

This is another pinterest find with a spam link - but I love the flowers in a heart, with the text at the bottom like this!

These are obviously meant for new babies, but aren't they gorgeous?

Another idea...

Use a blocky font for Mom, weld the text, and then add a rectangle and slice it out - adding the names and hearts in the middle.  It's the same process you use to make a split monogram, as shown here.

I found this on pinterest, and the link it leads to is pure spam, so I am not sure who the designer is.
But LOOK at that incredible variety of flowers!! I LOVE this!

This is a really cut idea using clothespins to make dolls of each of the children.

Dinosaur Finger Puppets With Free SVGS - Cricut Crafting With Kids

I'm always looking for simple crafts that can be made with cricut and assembled by my grandsons.  These dinosaur finger puppets are each just two pieces to glue together - no tiny parts.

Quick Tips:
  • I sized each dinosaur at 5 inches wide, but you can make them smaller for smaller children.
  • The finger holes are 3/4 of an inch when the designs are half an inch wide. That is large enough for an adult finger.  You can always use the contour button to remove those finger holes, and add your own smaller holes if that works better, but for the most part, kids seem to  do fine with the holes a little larger like this.

==================================
Ungroup To Change The Colors

There are two different svgs in the zip file.  Each has two different dinosaurs.
All of them will upload as black, but they are svgs, so it is simple to change the color to whatever you would like - you just need to ungroup each svg first.

You can also cut the top parts out in white  cardstock and let the kids color them.

Check the sizes once ungrouped - I sized all of mine at 5 inches wide, but I think a couple of the dinosaurs upload at a smaller size.

=======================
Use Contour To Change The Finger Hole Size
To remove the finger holes, select ONE image, and then choose contour.  A box will pop up in design space -

click on the finger holes, then close the box.  The circles will disappear.

Now you can add new circles in smaller or larger size as needed.  Just use the shape tool to add a circle.

Then you can either weld the two circles together and slice them, or you can add both the circles, select the two circles and the dinosaur and attach.  The circles will change to the color of the dinosaur and it will look like they have disappeared, but as long as you can see them in the layers panel to the right, they will cut out of the middle just as if you had sliced.
