Making Advent Calendars With Cricut

Making Advent Calendars

This year we made our own chocolate advent calendars.  The two templates we ended up using were the free tree svg from Jennifer Maker, and a not free German triangle version, which is flat, and perfect for mailing.  The third file we had planned to make just ended up being too difficult for right now.  I'll come back to it later and try again.

The Files:

Triangle Advent Calendar [German]  - Approx $5

I added the 3D Christmoose SVG on top of one of the triangle calendars

On the other, I used the FREE Merry Christmas SVG as a sticker

The Carousel Version I did not complete is here

From the "On My Desk Today" Facebook Post:

The lay flat triangle box is perfect for the chocolate advent calendars we are sending through the mail. The svg is not free, and it's from a German designer. There are English instructions in a pdf file labeled Englisch. The numbers on the boxes only come with the German version.
This design took 10 sheets of 8.5x11 paper. We used an additional sheet of gold foil paper for the numbers on the boxes, and a sheet of sticker paper for the design on the front of the box.

For the numbers on the boxes, we used the svgs from the Jennifer Maker advent calendar.

Selecting the entire box of numbered ornaments, I resized the group to 4.07 wide by 4.747. The design on the front of the box is a free svg -

To make this a sticker, I created a circle shape, layered the svg on top, selected both and flattened. For the second one, I used the 3d Layered Christmoose svg from Okadee, found here: https://designbundles.net/okadee-svg/1655946-3d-christmoose-and-friends-layered-forest-animal-p?ref=mno4va

My advent tree in place on the hutch

For the Jennifer Maker Tree, we used 2 sheets of 12x12 cardstock, and two sheets of gold foil cardstock. Find the free files and instructions here: https://jennifermaker.com/christmas-tree-advent-calendar-25-days-projects/

The biggest problem with this file is the "drawers" on the finished tree are constantly sliding out, every time the tree is bumped. We added some sticky felt under the drawers and on the base, but they still slide, especially if anything heavy is placed in the drawers. I might try some sandpaper adhered on the inside next?

Next up for us is this carousel one - which is in french! I bought the file when it was 99 cents, and I suspect this one will be 99 cents again in the Black Friday Sales coming up.
